Locomotive maintenance is crucial to ensure the normal operation of locomotives. It is classified into various categories, and different types of maintenance have different focuses.
According to the maintenance level, it can be divided into daily maintenance, minor maintenance, medium maintenance and major maintenance. Daily maintenance is an inspection that must be carried out every time, mainly for small problems of locomotive vehicles, such as body maintenance, the driver checks the wheel nuts, tires, etc. before driving; running gear maintenance, check the brake system and transmission system and other components; brake system maintenance focuses on checking brake pads, hydraulic brakes, etc.; power system maintenance should check motors, generators, etc. Minor maintenance is generally carried out every 1,800 kilometers, focusing on dealing with wear and tear, and carefully inspecting, maintaining and cleaning all parts of the vehicle. Medium maintenance is carried out about 10,000 kilometers. At this time, the vehicle is fully disassembled, and multiple systems such as braking and traction must be repaired and replaced. Major maintenance is carried out after 30,000 to 50,000 kilometers of driving. The entire locomotive is fully disassembled, and the parts that need to be repaired are fully inspected and replaced.
According to the maintenance process, it can also be divided into C1 to C6 maintenance processes. The C1 repair process is routine maintenance and minor repairs, such as oil change, brake system inspection, etc. The C2 repair process is a medium-level repair, replacing brake pads, spark plugs and other parts. The C3 repair process is more complicated, requiring the dismantling and reconstruction of some parts, such as the engine and transmission system. The C4 repair process is a major repair, which involves the complete dismantling and reconstruction of the locomotive, involving the repair and replacement of internal engine parts. The C5 repair process is a major repair process, which involves large-scale reconstruction of the entire locomotive, such as replacing the engine. The C6 repair process is a comprehensive renovation and update, including improvements to the power system and exterior design.
Different types of locomotive maintenance have their own characteristics. Professional maintenance helps to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the locomotive and extend the service life of the locomotive.
